I dont think I have tackle madness, but my brother in law a mad game fisho but he fishes most other types too so fly flinging, trout fishing, estuary, reef and big stuff, he has in excess of 1700 lures of all types, probably near 50 odd kilos of jigs, add the braid line, excess of nylon line all sizes, hooks galore big fan of circle hooks, guess he spends 200 bux a week on tackle alone not even adding game rods, jig rods, fly rods blah blah he is however not married lol

Myself i have two game rods 24 kilo custom made, two shimano tld 30 reels with braid, a jig rod, and an old crystal tip i use for catching slimeys, tackle wise i have about 30 kilos of jigs from micros to 250 g slices, 4 skirts, plenty circle hooks from 3/0 to 8/0, usual coast snaps, leads, rings all that fiddly stuff , i have my dads beautiful old daiwa ss4000 he got in singapore in 1977, ive played small striped marlin with it cant break it for egg beater, in time as the boat nears completion ill get the bug

I had a moment of clarity prior to buying another Curado 201 ( already had 2!)
First of all, nice reels, but not the best for every occasion.
Second.....WTF!

I'm now mainly using my Calcutta 201, the Tica Caiman has lost second place to a Lexa 300 with a power handle - very nice, (an upgrade sported by my Calcutta)
This combo has my Snapper needs sorted, just got to refine the rods down to 2, for softbaiting and for jigs.....
Ocean Angler Carbon 4-8 kg has the Lexa, just hot to decide what the Calcutta deserves.

I believe there is the correct tool for every job. You can use an adjustable crescent for every size bolt but it will do a **** job and you won't enjoy doing it.
At the same time, there's no point having 8 17mm ring spanners.
So get the correct gear for the fishing you're doing, and try to avoid duplication. The only caveat on that is I like taking people out for a fish and I like them to have good gear too, so I have a couple of double-ups. This obviously doesn't apply for game fishing where you legitimately need a spread of 5 rods or so.

Well said, one doesn't play golf with one club, or several including 3 putters and 4 drivers?

How much is enough? I think I am getting close.....
