Re Spudniks comment,
I was in Rockhampton [Aus] fishing near the mouth of the Fitzroy river the last week of the Barramundi season. Where i was fishing was a big flat area and i could see lightning in the distance. I thought graphite rod... not a good idea lets get out of here.
 
Driving back to Rocky i could of driven with my lights off , the lightning was all around me and that prolific that any second i expected the car in front of me to vapourise !
