Dan and I hit up a remote lower North Island river, for some tricky, low water browns. Stunning scenery, sore legs and sand-flies... it's all part of the experience on Latitude 40!

Stunning stuff. Lovely work.
At 2.37 is that first swirl right at the tail of the pool the trout taking a hatching insect off the surface, or a missed hook-up? It's great footage either way.
Love that sip off the surface at 7.50.
And great commitment with the chest high river crossings in spring. Ouch.

All brownies in that catchment? Some gorgeous fish and they jumped around like rainbows.

You've got a good eye! Yes, he actually took my fly that first rise, just hard to see - I did prick him, but he went back feeding immediately again so nailed him on the next cast where he rose again slightly further up! That 7.50 rise I got a fright and jumped... wuss I know! Cheers

Good stuff, they were obviously hungry - coming back for another go. It's impressive to watch your strip strike technique, getting the line tight really quickly.
You guys are proving you don't have to go to the South Island for quality back country fishing in clear rocky rivers, and the quality of the footage is fantastic.
