Fished from the knights south on Saturday. Water was upto 23.5. No luck, but did find a massive workup in 140 off oceans with, whales, dolphins and birds. Worked it for a while but they weren't interested in plastic when there was real food on offer.

Crap looking forecast on nautiigals. Wife going very disappointed.... as in mad as a hater. I'm thinking that forecast is a no brainer stay home. Be interested if others con cur with assessment that the forecast is not consistent with most trailer boats having a nice time this weekend out behind the poor knights.

I might be soft and prefer beer & rum cold and seas calm but think I might be happier home this weekend doing lawns and spending time with family.

I'm soft so I use the simple question - if it wasnt a contest, would you even be contemplating going out?

Either buy the "raffle" ticket and come up for a nice weekend away on shore (leave the boat at home)  or dont buy th eticket and saty home, saving the money for better seas/bite...

have also pulled the pin on Nautigals. Getting the snot beaten out of us doesn't sound like a fun weekend.
Hopefully weather comes right for a mid week trip.

Yep good to see I was ahead of the game in wanting to pike out early.
Can now have nice relaxing warm and dry long weekend re-rigging few lures and sleeping in. Might even go snapper fishing in inner Auckland harbour if calms down enough in there.

One of my self drive clients was up Tuts a few days ago for 3 days fishing. Saw one Stripy on the surface and caught their only strike (his first Marlin). That was it over 3 days and not a lot of radio action either he thought.  Don't know if it is just the bad weather keeping people at home, but sounds like a pretty quiet season this year. Too much warm water is not always a good thing.

Needs to be said: congrats to the crew of Reel Mania and legendary skipper (at least this weekend) Regan Cooper... showing bit of fishing genius and tagging two striped marlin- both caught on baits on a well known reef most others drive over on way to blue water.
Fishing genius! Your ladies were well served,.
