Are the shimano thunnus and baitrunner spools interchangable?

I have a ci4000 thunnus and looking for a spare spool and the thunnus ones are $149 but the baitrunner ones are only $80ish?

Thanks

Hmmm thats a thought...
must look at that.. got a 4000 oc and 4000 thunus.
I know most of the low mid range okuma 4000 and 6000s do.

Thunnus reels have a spool bearing, Baitrunners don't.

They may still be interchangeable, it just won't be quite as nice.

Thunnus 4000 more likely to work than the other ones as the 4000 spool bearing is inside the spool, under the drag stack, whereas on 6000 and larger it's underneath the spool.

i work in a tackle store so i just tested this for you.  the 4000 oc spool does fit onto  the thunnus.  the drag seems to work fine.  they do look slightly differant underneath but that doesnt seem to effect anything

Thats good to know
Heading out to the shed was still on the to do list
Put off till tomorrow Avo..when hopefully setting both those reels up for Wed weather window.

Low elcheap interchangeability of the okuma (above) from memory its also about bush/ and or quailty of bearing.. maybe drag discs also ??? had them out separate but to together to actually compare.

Thanks TTM on the early follow thru...and further info..

What type of baitrunner is it? I had the same idea as you to try and save some cash on a spare spool. I have the 8000D baitrunner and thunnus 8000 tried swapping them over, they don't fit. I also have the 4000D baitrunner and thunnus 4000 so I'll give it a go and let ya know.
