We put the truck in for a WoF.. and got a letter from 'transport our diesel road user charges had expired.. fair enough
They where just expired  not much, so missus goes on line and pays them...plus enough to cover another 10,000 kms
All good right? Nope!!

We get another letter.. outstanding charges...only on maybe 1000km if that..
 So ring them up..
The amount she paid is only for the future usage, therefore we paid for over 10,000km plus , but not the previous outstanding !!!
The outstanding must be paid separate, but there is nothing we can see that explains this.
IF we have been stopped, even thu the road user charge cert is current and will cover for the next 10 or 12 months we would still get a ticket for the outstanding charges.

It is not the 1st time we have been late updating, but have never had this BS before.. so it remains  we still have outstanding charges .. how much .. seems no one knows...

Be nice to have constancy.. rego, if late, when paid automatically pays the arrears.. road user.. doesnt
Bureaucracy ...

So a warning if your diesel road user has expired, when you pay it, you are only paying for future mileage, the outstanding is still outstanding and must be paid separately...

Same thing happened to me. I tried to buy ruc's when last getting a wof but had to pay for the outstanding ruc's over the phone before I could buy any more over the counter at the testing station.

The phone call confirmed what SD also found above and orginal post.
This is non commercial  WoF licensing  not CoF / commercial... that maybe different.

should be on the form a box that says continuation?maybe you should have written down mileage when users ran out. ie 12789 paid too, mileage now 12793 should of put down mileage of 12789.Have had private diesil vans and never had an issue, have always just written mileage when licence was due to even if over.
Maybe next before cof make sure rucs are up to date.  Should be like the rst of the world tax included or green fuel  for non agriculture vehicles, caught with red ouch.
forget the argument about fuel used in boats same as petrol in boats.

Why would you state you current speedo reading when doing so in fact is an admission that you have been driving illegally if in arrears.

Why not simply purchase a few thousand kms & if necessary state your existing reading as being within your current sticker.

Am also at a loss to figure where it asks for current reading in the application process as I have never been asked for it, either with the motorhome ( COF rated ) or a diesel wagon ( WOF rated )
When you cry, feel pain or sadness, no one notices your sorrow .... BUT
fart just ONE time !!!!!!!!!!!

From original post

When a Wof is put thru on line to land transport by the WoF inspector.. it also includes the current mileage.
If you get a vehicle details from LTSA it includes the mileage reading at each WoF check.
Therefore it seems the mileage/ WoF data base and the data base for RUC are connected

we are looking in to the new system of Eroad(commercial)every 1000km automatically charges your account so no more worries of running out,but the down side scviu can download it and tell exactly where youve been and break times,so need to be a bit smarter with the logbook, some companies are trialing electronic log books, driver id punches in to a computer, tell you when you need a break etc what vehicles youve driven, speed, bit like the old tachograph, but if when resting and key is on for radio etc it keeps recording so need to make sure radio is hooked up to accessories on the key. no doubt someone will find away round it.

Sry must  have missed something..
so why does only being able to buy in 1000 blocks make something (yet to be identified from anyone one of the posts above) , make it "rubbish"?

Back to original post.....
i think you only get caught out when taking vehicle for a warrant and the mileage is recorded and swaps into the other ruc system somehow. then it gets labelled as overdue and the letter thing happens. The problem is that once labelled as overdue in the system it can only be paid for by that special transaction. You can buy thousands of kms ahead but the "overdue " ones are not paid until you pay for them specifically. It is a pain in the arse i know cos it happened to me one time as well.

Seems ridiculous. Just buy more and the arrears should be taken care of.

A punishment for letting your RUC run out...you have to go through a pain in the arse rigmarole to sort it..
you can't fix an idiot with duct tape, but it does muffle them for a while...

So the moral of the story is make sure your RUC'c are current before you take it in for a warrant.
I learned something new.
