Been thinking it's been a long time since I have met anyone new from this site, over the years, since joining I have met and fished with some real good buggers from off here and made some good mates.

Thought I'd run a bit of a competition and see if I can uncover some more good buggers.

Pretty simple, tell us a story about someone who is a good bugger, could be a mate, dad, son, great grandmother, gay lover etc.

As a "prize" I'll take the winner and their good bugger out softbaiting for snapper for a day from Maraetai (Auckland) on the good ship Ruckus. I'll supply everything we need, winner just needs to get themselves to the ramp.

I'm not a charter operator, just a bloke with a boat.

well i will stat this off then
my dad Walther
Just turned 82 and loves his fishing. has a small 14fter that he uses when able although its now getting a bit much for him on his own. he also dabbbles a bit with kayak fishing. he lives in papamoa and while supposedly retired still works when he wants to (which is pretty much a couple of days a week). all the family have spread out around nz with me in welly my brother in auckland and my sisters in the waikato. will help anyone who asks and often even when they dont ask which curtails his fishing a lot. helped my brother build a deck and put the other 4 or 5 guys helping to shame with his workload and they were 40 and 50 years  younger. a little while ago was up in coromandel with friends and went out in their boat and had a fall due to a misread wave. badly hurt his back and took 3 months to recover. to be honest i think the biggest snapper hes caught was 10lb and that was probably at least 35 years ago. dont even think he has caught a legal kingy. not that thats a big thing as he just likes to get a feed.

and it wouldnt be me that would go with him it would be my brother in law who is an ambo in morrinsville

I was worried that might happen and I'd have to go out on my jack jones! Wouldn't be the first time!

Hey Bull, great offer. Have to agree that BA was a seriously good fisherman and he also put me on my first marlin. Excitable? Hell yes! With my fish it was as if he had never seen a stick face before. Admittedly with two of us on board Ultimate Game and a double hook up on SEVEN lures in the water it was a little  challenging. Big smile.

Anyway, I have another nomination and that is for forum member Kitno. I took him fishing once and can vouch for his good bugger cred. He is also an HFO, he is generous, relaxed and fishing is his life. A good keen man and  a great guy.

He is also one of the champions of these forums with some really intelligent contributions. Hey, if he doesn't win I'll take him fishing anyway. As long as it's out deep. Off the west coast. In spring.  Slaying it on jigs!

Yes,a good nomination smudge.
I've been having a bit to do with Kitno lately & would say he well deserves some recognition for his good work & good attitude.
A top guy & a good barrstaard
