Does anyone have a small piece of quality cork sheet lying around - I need a piece about 6 or 7cm in diameter and 1 to 2mm thick to replace the drag washer in my Colton (on the advice of Colton themselves)? Cheers.
Approach with extreme caution - I NEVER look where my back cast is going....

I had this issue a few years back.  Ended up buying a large piece of flat cork of ebay.  Its used as a sealing material in wind instruments, so plenty of suppliers their.

If you can swap to carbon I would,  but depends on the reel.  If its got a rulon or similar plastic washer it compresses against, the carbon wont work.

If you decide to convert to Carbontex these guys have a pretty good range of loose washers

I tried that at the time as well Steps, but about as thin as they sold it was 3mm.   Way too thick for drag washers in reels.   That begin said it was down here in Queenstown?  Maybe in a bigger metropolis it might be available in thinner options?

Great to hear! Cool

Oh a fantastic tip, is to treat the cork with a mixture of silicone grease and carbon powder (sanding the tip of a pencil lead is a good alternative).  Someone on here gave me that tip a couple of years ago, and it managed to restore some screwed up drags on some of my old reels.
