With winter coming on I've been looking for a short sleeved waterproof vest to wear in the boat, my old ones a bit past it. Looked at oilskins but they don't like being washed all the time. Any ideas, don't want spend a lot.

Cheers

What about a cheap coat/jacket from the wharehouse and cut the sleeves short. I got some leggings today for $29.

I find a life jacket works quite well but then again I'm a bit of a stirrer especially after a nice wine

Hey Kerry ... if you don't mind pink with taffeta trim, then I understand there are some going cheap, that were left over after the last "Hero parade"

If pink is not your colour, apparently there are a few covered with silver sequins & baby blue bows.

Should wear a life jacket all the time. I wear a short sleeve jacket that's inflatable, and has insulation. In the water, particularly in winter, it will be the difference between life and death.

I should explain - the life jacket I wear is an ordinary jacket, that's warm and windproof and water resistant; so its nice to wear all the time. If I fall in the water, pull a cord and it inflates. Its short sleeved - can get models with long sleeves that zip off, so good for cold season. Mine is Hutchwilco.

Kaiwaka vests are good. I have a Hutchwilco vest life jacket that is really cpool. Best lifejacket I've owned by a long way. Keeps the wind chill off and it's manually inflatable so I put some air in it before I \get on the boat.

Sounds good but how do you wash it when it gets covered in bait and crap. I like the inflatable life jackets but I prefer to wear a normal one, but I will take a look when I'm in burnsco next.

Does the inflatable bladder come out so you can wash it and do you replace the gas canister every year
