Just purchased a Okuma Andros 5NS to give some jigging a go.

I'm looking at the Andros jigging 5-3" or 5.5" rod 250g
or the
Penn torque 5-6" jigging rod.

any recommendations?

What weight braid should I spool the reel with for jigs of 250gm??

Id like to use the reel for slow jigging as well on my nano matrix.

thanks

I have the Braid concepts 350g rod - fairly similar to the Andros jigger. Go for the shorter rod 5'3" max.
The 5NS will only put out 11kg drag max but being a single drag disc you will probably experience binding (and RH side plate bearing failure) at above 8 kg. 50lb braid is plenty, max drag issues notwithstanding.

I guess the setup is a little under rated for a full time kingie set up which is why I wanted to get it for the slow jigging as well. was thinking 30 -40lb spooled up... too light???
will eventually get a reel to suit the jigging rod in time.. or am I wasting my time???
