What are these please. Fishman - Craig Worthington???

On the right sea perch or maybe eyebrow perch or orange perch. as to the left I do not know as I have misplaced my fishy reference book.

A mate caught these in 200m off BOI.

Yep, sea perch (AKA jock stewart, scottish arsehole, etc) on right, orange perch on left (related to pink maomao and butterfly perch). There's quite a bit of interesting stuff out in 200 metres off BOI's and northeast coast.

Sea Perch / Jock Stewarts are extremely common and are good eating, but the northern variety don't get very big. The southern variety are regularly caught at a much larger size and make a good meal.

The orange perch is a much rarer catch. Swims in schools up off the reef, generally in waters well over 100 metres deep. So yeah, fish small baits and sabikis in that sort of water and you'll catch them, but they don't grow very big. Quite edible.
