Good water and feed has moved well in over that past week and pushed both blues and stripeys in close. There are a lot of very small marlin at the moment but the odd big one amongst them. 4 seiners 2 planes and a helicopter working close in to Whangaroa at the moment scooping hundreds of tons of skippies (and anything else that gets in the way). We've all got to make a dollar but its pretty sad to see the way that Sanfords work over an area an area like that and one can only wonder at the true catch profit vs the recreational and charter fishing value if they left it alone for a while. I just we don't end up with a desert like some other areas that have been commercially fished to death. |
