Went out today to the 500 meter around the bump off stevies , temps were 19.4 out wide and 19.7 around 160 meter mark .
Saw a marlin in the morning at 250 meter , hung around for no enjoy . More bird life between 100 and 250 , not many wide . Bit lumpy first thing then started to glass off with a little chop . Great day out though , wet the whistle at the totara nrt pissa on the way home , not a bad finish

Team AliG went out wide on Saturday and Sunday.

My plan was to chase a patch of warm water on the SSTs out from the Cavallis in 350m. I put the lures in at approx 220m at 19.5' and trolled out to 450 where we found 20.5'. From here we turned North and headed towards the Seamount where we eventually saw water as warm as 21.4'.

On Saturday we had a double strike on two Albacore in the morning which helped to settle the nerves and test rusty processes (and keep the crew awake...) and a strike in the afternoon which I didn't see and the hook pulled after a 30 second run (again it probably didn't help that the rest of the crew was asleep...).

Sunday was more trying in 1m swell with 15 knot winds and ended up turning into productive snapper mission.

Here's hoping the weather plays ball this weekend coming...

Alig ,you were in the right spot on monday,we got two bites there, then watched a boat lose a marlin on the sea mount, went out the next day, same spot and got a stripy, tagged it,the best water that day seemed to be east of the seamount, skippies right into the Cavallis

Heading up to Whangaroa on Saturday and Sunday will be a day trip for a shakedown but we'll wet the lures, then on Monday the trip will start so could head to Garden Patch/N Cape for a 3/4 day stay-away.
Weather forecast is looking good.
After checking out all the lures we used last year, I found 4 with bill rash on the leader...4 we never knew about...must be getting really slack to have missed that many. Hoping for some to stick this year.

I know the story mate - gearing up for this weekend's trip last night and noticed bill-rash on two new lures that have only been wet once... the crew mustn't have wanted to catch one hard enough LOL
