Mint weather out there today but dead as a dodo. 1 barracuda is the total for 60mile round trip. 20.5 degree water behind mayor in 300m but no life. All gannets seemed to be flying south. Still good bait sign deep down in 70m west of mayor but no birds working this time

Scuzzy a mate of mine dropped a marlin yesterday in 90m just behind Astrolabe on a live kahawai. Water is ****ty green but there are some good temperature breaks and they found that fish right on the edge of a good current line with a 0.5 degree temp break.

We found a good workup in 110m behind the Penguins no sign of tuna with the dolphins but they were feeding on saurie so that is another area worth looking at.

did the comp out of tauranga , we went deep staying out saturday night about 85 mile out looking for b/bill , Embarrassed

3 days  we got 3 big albies , dead ocean out there jelly fish being the main species

took out the kids section  but that's all , no big hits , we got 22 , but mostly 21.5 , best blue water was about 8 mile out the back of mayor , no jelly fish in it  so we didn't catch any thing there , jelly fish that is ,   some  humpbacks out there

heard some young guys not in comp got a stripy in the green water inside mayor may have been penguins   or the lab not sure , no skippys but heard some one got 2 at  the ragataras ,

saw a kahawai work up just of penguins on the way in was all we saw , no gannets working out  of the 500  1000 metre lines nor any working down alderman ways

Just did two days out of Whangamata. Day 1 started ****ty at Mayor, but calmed off nicely just before lunch. So we headed north westish and ended up just a couple of miles short of the Aldy rise. Yep lots of deep (50 metres) bait AND 22°C. Water and as others have said dolphins.

Day 2 started with no wind but a ****ty short duration swell from the east. We headed north west of the Aldies, put lures in at 90 metres and headed north to 400 metres where the water temp dropped off. We came back in and found more bait at 130 metres still 50 metres deep, but really good news more closer to the surface and was coming up as we got closer to low tide! We worked and worked and worked the area for nuffing, then headed south to find more dolphins and some gannets sitting on the water and that oily fishy aroma in the air. We had just missed something, worked that area, for more nuffings then came home.

We had a great day being our first time! We trolled out past Penguins came across a few Gannets but they weren't really working or doing much. We went for a grouper fish with no luck and then headed home stopping for a snapper fish again with no luck but we love Tauranga it was great just being out there doing it. Cant wait till next time.

Hi Guys
Apparently been a member for a while but couldn't log in.  Got some help in remembering my password from the FN people. At my age passwords are a bit like wedding anniversaries, easily forgotten. Been following this with interest.  I saw that big workup outside Penguin on Sunday that Scuzzy saw.  Gannets were really feeding as were the Dolphins but nothing there.  I gave 65 odd bucks worth of jigs to the bronzies at Mayor just before that.  I take it I'm not the only one having that problem?

I was planning on tracking Fizz however I'm now awaiting a Knee replacement and can't solo as I can only Helm the boat and monitor the plotter etc...... I'm considering an experienced line person to Partner-Rod-clear lines, outriggers etc, etc......... I'm now looking at Monday
Last week I joined an Anti-Social support group........They won't talk to me!
