went out the back of mayor 600 metre  line to the alderman's and back  , we pulled in 5  albies  weight at tauranga club , biggest about 23 lb  / 10 .7 kg,

water warmer in closer  than out but blue out the back of mayor  , not   much action out there ,

albies caught on p/b and  deep diver

Was wondering how long it would take before someone jumped in with that gun.

Looks like the marlin took off when he realised he brought a sword to a gun fight.

I have heard through the grapevine that a few days an experienced game fisherman was anchored chasing Tarakihi in about 70m near Plate Island when they had a school of yellowfin in the 30-40 kg range jumping near them. I don't think they had any game gear on the boat.

Good to see the season kicking in to live .  Did a big run on the 17th from Major knolls through to white island  brilliant conditions temp 19.2 ,only got one hit didn't see what it was on 1000mtr mark ,pick up some blue nose and one bass also a good kingy near white .stayed the night ,got one alby on way on way home to Tauranga 600mts deep .
back out Wednesday will head to alderman knolls , then  the hook, see if weather behaves.

We went for a look yesterday, put the lures in at mayor and trolled towards the Aldies, best temp was 19.6, pretty good looking water but no sign of any fish for us. Saw a few boats out giving it a crack.

We went for a look today put lures in at Mayor Knolls, had reasonable water which got up to 19.8. Worked the area to the North east of the knolls and got out to about 800m. No sign of anything.

OK , JUST LOOKING UP FALSE KILLER WHALES IN THE NET , SO MIT CHANGE THAT TO BIG BROWN  OVER SIZED OCEANIC DOLPHIN

but there where ether pilot whales or false killers with them

saw a  sun fish inside the western end of mayor coming in

but must say i think the  big oceanic dolphin we saw that where heading into mayor  are cleaning the tuna out  lol ,

i mit be wrong  as they maybe there for tuna as i  believe they are tuna chasers / eaters

we never caught a skippy never saw any  new work ups ,

lots of birds out there  sooty's and smaller albatrosses sitting over what  we would call old work up spots

 no  gannets about

but i fear it mit be the false killers or  big oceanic dolphin we saw  that the  birds are working on / with
