Went out yesterday with Waynorth for a hapuka fish. Got 4 plus 2 bluenose, 2 terakihi and about 10 tope. Used Hooker fishing terakihi rig with 3 hooks and caught 3 puka on one drop.

Went out early to centre foul this morning
Temp has risen and was 17.9
Hardly any sign but managed a 5kg and about a 2kg snapper
The 5kg snappers guts was full of baby frost fish about 100mm long
Might be trying a softbait the same size and colour next time
It was caught by Mr Rod holder with a orange slider

Scored this one and quite a few other big snapper over a few trips last few days.     Some beauties around Robertson and tapeka areas.       Fresh jack macs doing the trick.

I let this one go.   Weighed a 29 pounder couple days before and it was probably quite a bit bigger.

Ah well. Late start left me chasing around for fish in the middle ground. Big schools of ?anchovies- the gannets and Dolphins were well fed.
Alas I only got one bite, landed after a bit of a fight, and iced, prior to that even the Gulps were surviving unscathed and untouched. At least it was a lovely 8lb Snapper.

Sounds close to 'middle foul' which on low res charts is a simple contour, but the seabed survey shows an isolated area of foul demarcated by the 'squiggle'
Last Christmas you could practically cross the area stepping from boat to boat......
