been a while since ive wet a line as been busy with building a mai mai and duck shooting etc  pretty hard to get motivated to go chasin inshore species when last to fish were blue marlin lol. anyway weather was lookin pretty mint and best shootin is when its windy so decided to dust the cobwebs off the noodlesticks and go get sum tasty winter morsels .
last weekend headed out to doggg reef in middle of gulf n got a few snaps and cupla tasty terakihi. cupla just under kings had a play with the jittetbugs  to get a bit of string pulling also .

today decided to try a bit closer to home and headed out bout just over 1 km  and dropped pick in 12 meters  with a bonito n pilly berley attatched to top of the chain ..rigged up 3 rods 4/0 recurves  in dropper rig style and chunked up half a skippy caught earlier in game season . well the call was made whoever catches the least amount of fish is cookin. first fish was a throwback snapper  which was returned and told to come back when he reched double figures .
then the target species arrived  and we steadily filled the bin with nice carrots to 40 cm . ended up catchin about 30  but threw back the ones under 30 as there aint much on those ones .
a few small kahawai and mackerel in the mix . and the pup had a ball tryin to catch a macca out of the livebait chillybin . ( she got one so I filleted it for her and she loved the fresh fillets ! )
can see rangitoto in the background so good to see the east coast holding plenty of carrots (cant let the westies have it all lol)
heres a kill shot for smudge go the eastside !

Nice one Ski.

Try biffing a lure out the back on that cruise ship next week when you and the missus get up near the Whangas.   Should be something brought up in that prop wash.  Have fun.
