i read with interest what MPI say about the stocks of Blue Cod,
For all blue cod QMAs, recent commercial catch levels and current TACCs are considered sustainable.
but for you Rec's, this is what MPI think of you buggers, its all your fault so shut up and catch your 2 or i will make it 1...
The drop in the number of blue cod in the Marlborough Sounds, caused by recreational fishing, is the most pressing management issue. There are some signs that such local depletion could become an issue at Kaikoura, Motunau and parts of Foveaux Strait. Given the ease of access and increasing retail value of blue cod,
Tzer from the look of a map i found on MPIs site, from Cape Farewell down to Grey Mouth appears to be less caught than from the sounds and Cook Strait.
if they dont know the Rec take then i could at a guess say its the Comm's,
it just says this under the Map..Blue cod distribution and management areas.
Thanks for everything you did for us Eric. may you rest in peace, You were one of the real legends of NZ recreational fishing
