Headed out to Aldie rise today. Nice out there, 23deg, good colour water, a few dolphins, couldn't raise anything else. Water looked good all the way in to 130m. Ch61 was pretty quiet.

Fished the Hook and general area sat and sun this weekend. Very quiet. Vibrant blue water outside the Hook at 400m on Sat but couldn't find any bait or life. Sunday found some small albies slightly south in 160m but still not much happening. Decent westerly blew up Sunday arvo which wasn't forecast and made the trip home fairly unpleasant.
Did manage some decent kings up to 20kg jigging some pins.

Great couple of days off Mayor, we headed down on Tuesday. Spent some time with the false killer whales behind the Aldies. Dropped a live kahawai just inside Mayor, 4 minutes later we hooked up! After 70 min we had a striped marlin in the boot. This fish had been caught previously (no tag) but had leader rash on its flank and some damage to the dorsal fin with goose barnacles growing from it. Headed back to Tairua for a weigh, fish went 105.7kg. Next morning we shot back down to Mayor, dropped a live kahawai and 20 minutes later hooked up again! I got this one to the boat quickly (23 min) as was our intention to tag & release. Unfortunately the fish was tail wrapped and came in backwards. Sadly the fish couldn't be revived so it came on board as well. The second fish went 146.9kg

Not a dedicated game channel But 28 is what a lot of local boats use when game fishing.

Ch 61 for Mercury Bay if that's any use. Looking like a nice weather window next week from about Wednesday on . Got an itch to scratch so might have to sort that.

Got stripeys the last 3 days Sth of Aldies.

Friday - solo, 120kg on 37
Saturday, my 9yo old boy got a 134kg on 37
Sunday, my 11 yo daughter got a 92kg on 15

Well proud of my kids efforts, their first marlin and they did so well.

Quite a few other boats catching as well.

All ours on baits but boats catching on lures too.

Will pop a report up in DB Export Reports section when I get a chance.

Loving this indian summer! Back out to try and tag a few later in the week.

We went south of Aldies as well on Sunday with lures.  Hooked up 4 times but lost all 4.  Lots of excitement on board but feeling a bit frustrated!!  Must try live baiting next time...

We are on a buccaneer 635.  There were a few boats in the area hooked up so plenty of fish around.
