Out of interest last weekend I was fishing down along Matakana Island towards Bowentown by myself and caught a little Thresher Shark about 8-9kg on 2 kg line, gave me a hell of a fight took me about 40 minutes to get to the boat where I tagged and released it.

I got one of about 5'-6', 10 days ago too Vance.
Was down by the island & using my trout rod ( Veritas PE 0.4_1.0) so had a fairly interesting battle myself.
I thought it was going to join me in the boat at one stageLOL

That's the third one I've hooked down there in the past couple of years.

Bill was that 5-6 feet overall including tail or just the body portion. They are neat animals alright, pity mine didn't jump it just thrashed around on the surface a few times.
