thanks yeah bit of a problem the idiot just about ran us down on autopilot at 20 odd knots while we were anchored on the penguin shoals ( reall ah penguins is a big reef you dont travel over the top of it on autopilot that fast)
had to start the boat and move forward and he went straight over our bottom lines wasnt even 20m away from us if we didnt move he would have hit us
when they went past there was no one driving and the dikhead was in the cockpit rigging gear up
luckliy no one was hurt and we had a mates younger son on board so we didnt chase them and sort it out out there
would appreciate if anyone does know this boat or the F###wit that owns it if they could tell them to sell it as the ocean would be a far safer place without them in it

Anarchy - great news, you got a photo and showed it in shame in public. Now you need to report it.

You should report this incident to the Maritime Safety Authority;
http://www.maritimenz.govt.nz/Report-online/default.asp
Do this straight away.

You should also report it to the Harbour Master in Tauranga. I know that the Waikato Regional Council and the Auckland Council require all vessels to be named. Cannot see a name on the side of this boat.
You need to check the rules for the Bay of Plenty Regional Council. But give the Harbour Master a copy of the photo.

The skipper is clearly at fault, not keeping a suitable watch.

Great you got a picture - he is toast!
I know it is a hassle but please report the guy, if he wasn't busy rigging tackle he would have been bonking his mistress or cooking and he will do the same again.
Good fishing trip nothing breaks, great trip catch fish.

Glad you guys are ok.
It's a big ocean but we tend to go to the same places I guess.

My mates a commercial longliner and does about 8knots.
He was coming in and cleaning gear and went very close to an anchored boat which freaked him out.
He hooked the wheel over to go back and talk with the people and try and give them some fish etc.
He said they saw him turning and thought he was coming back for another go and upped anchor in record time and roared away.
Made him feel even worse.

It may be this guy will be open to some input and make changes in his methods.
If not then sink him, but it's a nice boat to waste.
