Here's the latest on the continuing saga of the Port expansion  http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=11427067

This is a complete joke from the council, for them to blame the port is totally hypocritical.  It was the council that approved the plans in their secret meetings.  Just remember, when the time comes to vote for your councillor, whether they were all for this expansion before the public backlash.  Now they realise how upset the general public are about this they are desperately trying to look like they were against it all along, but when they thought they could slip it through un-noticed and in secret it was a different story.  I'd like to see heads roll, starting with the mayor and continuing until all the current councillors are gone.

How many fisho's went in the protest ?
Was a bit disappointed not to see a flotilla of smaller run-a-boats out there also making there point.
Especially since they are the one's that may not be able to use this part of the harbour once the extension and reclamation is completed.

The problem is they plan to extend the Bledisloe yet most of the unloads happen at the Ferguson?

the harbour will now be a river
the harbour was 2km wide when this is done it will be less than 1km
the wave form will now be hazardous to many smaller boats as it will now be steep and sharp
why should they be able to reclaim and then sell

Go the port. Don't get sucked in by the property developers who want it gone and the land ripe for plucking.
