When towing marlin lures what kg tension do you apply to the outrigger release clips?

Is it the intention to pin the fish whilst still on the riggers or when it comes hard on the strike drag?

I run blacks clips and then band the line with rubber bands, works a treat and get the clips tight.

We use just enough tension to hold the lure , some lures need more some need less.
dont know about kg of tension but you will soon figure out which lures need a couple more turns on the dail to stop them popping.

Used to use wooden pegs with rubber docking ring.

They do work well. rubber bands seem to bust after a while, and then you end up loading to many or to little.

The wooden peg method never fails, takes a lot of force for the release.
Also leaves memory in the line so your lures can be re- set in the same position.

Just an option if you ever change from roller trollers.
