Damo's top spots for the week are:
There's masses of bait in the area 1 to 3 nautical miles from Motuora island and plenty of good snapper in attendance. Anchor and burley will bag you some good fish - needs a bit of patience and make sure you're there at bite time. Softbaits and micro-jigs also are also a good option if you want to drift through the area
The area between Tiri and Rangi holds a large area of worm beds and there are good schools of snapper in the area as they move in closer. Anywhere in the area around 1km from Rangi light is also worth a look as the snapper move into the channels.
In 20m around this area - some good snapper being caught.
In 50m just out past the cable zone - good fish and long drifts producing some good bags of snapper.
Excellent fishing in the area out towards Great Barrier and down towards Cape Colville. Deeper drifting - pink, green and orange jitterbugs, sliders are working. Softbaits - bruised banana and motor-oil in Z-Man and New Penny Gulps are all very effective.
