The Store report for 18 April - 24 April

  • Trout, Taupo

Good morning, lovely morning to wake up to today with the rain falling on the roof! What an amazing week with a real assortment of weather, snow, hail, wind and sunshine all bound into one package.

The earlier part of the week was cold with temperatures begining to rise again towards the end of the week. Rain has dampened the ground and given us some additional flow and colour to the tributaries allowing the fish to mkove unimpeded.

The catchments didnt really get a great deal of rainfall but just enough to stimulate the fishing which has been exceptional for the past week for those that have been either on the lakes, river mouths and or the rivers. At times there has been a little bit of pressure, but in general there is so much water to fish, that anglers have found that they have been able to fish without any problems.

The rivers have all got good numbers of very fresh fish that have continued to move over the past few days and will continue to do so with the rain and lower temperatures. The fish are pocketed right throughout the rivers, with little pressure and cover allowing them to move as they want to.

The fish have been in fanatastic condition and with good numbers, its looking fantastic for the winter period. River mouths likewise, have other than over the past weekend when wind was an issue, since fished well, with well-defined rips and lots of fish holding.

Drop offs little pressure but again good fish and good numbers for those that have either waded or fished off the boats. Lake fishing, has been consistent too, fish holding 25-35 mtrs, harling first thing working, and for those fishing deeper lead, down riggers and jigging all working. Take care on the water and feel free to call for an update cheers stella 073868953 anytime
