What's on at the Hutchwilco Boat Show

Matt Watson at show!

TV star to give talks, answer questions and more in new ITM Fishing Show Experience.

Matt Watson, the popular TV star of the top-rating ITM Fishing Show, will be on site for all four days of this year’s Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show.

Matt and his team have created a special ITM Fishing Show Experience just for the boat show. Based in Hall 4A, just off the colourful Hutchwilco stand, Matt Watson’s ITM Fishing Show Experience will feature Matt giving daily talks, sharing his experiences and answering questions. There will also be large screens showing episodes of Matt in the ITM Fishing Show and the chance to interact with representatives from fishing advocacy group, Legasea.

There will also be a special on-site competition created just for the show.

Using forms only available in the Matt Watson’s ITM Fishing Show Experience area, people will be encouraged to suggest something “really new and different” to feature in a future episode of the ITM Fishing Show.

If Matt and his team like the idea enough to do it, the person who suggested it will be invited to be on board when it is filmed.

Remember: only those ideas submitted on the special competition forms and handed in during the show will be eligible to enter.

Daily heli-fishing trips to be won!

Surely every fisherman, fisherwoman or fisherkid has dreamed of going heli-fishing? Flying out to a remote spot no-one else knows about, dropping your line into rarely-fished waters and then flying home again to brag to friends and family.

Well, this year, everyone who attends the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show could have the chance to go heli-fishing with Heletranz for free!

Heletranz invented heli-fishing in New Zealand and they are still the best in the business. Each day, some lucky visitors to the show will be chosen to go on a Heletranz heli-fishing experience the very next day.

They will get to fly over the stunning Hauraki Gulf to a specially-chosen remote fishing spot. There, guided by an experienced Heletranz heli-fishing expert, they will enjoy around four hours of fishing with all equipment and bait provided. They will also enjoy a complimentary lunch and tea and coffee before packing up and flying home. Depending on the weather and tide, they may even get to stopover at the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show so they can show off their catch and bask in their well-earned bragging rights!

Keen? To be in with a chance, make sure you enter at the Heletranz stand in the Fishing Hall (hint: it will be the one with the helicopter on it!).

How are your trailer-backing skills?

Confident in your backing skills? Then put them to the test in our new Hosking Trailers Backing Competition.

You could end up taking home a Hosking Trailer complete with a Fyran 12ft Dinghy and 10hp Honda outboard, worth $9995!

Here’s how it works: you will have to reverse a small trailer through a challenging course bounded by water barriers. You will then have to stop, jump out, raise a flag up a pole using a winch, get back in the tow vehicle and drive forwards through the course.

We’ll keep the times and the fastest to complete the whole challenge will win the prize!
