A successful rescue of a stranded father and son was assisted by using the new FLIR Ocean Scout TK handheld thermal camera. The pair had been trapped by a fast rising tide were not able to make their way safely back to shore.
During the operation, on a pitch black night, the rescue team were able to record the difference between what the crew could see using just their natural vision and what they could see using the Ocean Scout thermal camera.
