Marlin Caught on Slow Jig

Yes, it's true folks - a marlin has been hooked and landed on a small pink Jitterbug  attached by a snapper-type snap-swivel to 100lb trace and an outfit consisting of a Shimano Torium 30 reel and Backbone rod! 

It resulted from improvisation forced on Stewart McVinnie and his mates when they ran out of jigs during a hot kingfish jigging session near Cuvier. For the full story on this fantastic feat, see the issue March of NZ Fishing News...
