The DB Export NZ Fishing Competition is a measure contest and is now in it's fourth season with some great catches on the leaderboards. Fish are judged by length rather than weight and all you need to do is photograph your catch on one of our official measures, then upload the photos to the competition website from your computer, table or mobile.

Each season runs from April 1st to March 31st of the following year - check out the species Champion Angler and monthly prizes for this season here. To be in our monthly draw all you need to do is enter one eligible catch on an approved measure during the month. Easy As!

Catch and release or keep - it's YOUR choice!

This competition is environmentally friendly - you can release your trophy fish if you want to. You only need to take a photo on an official NZ Fishing Competition measure and upload it to gain recognition of your angling expertise. You can also take your catch home to share with friends and family. Your fish, your choice, unlike many other fishing competitions where the fish has to die in the pursuit of prizes or other recognition.

Recognition

The longest fish in each species features at the top of our leader-boards which recognises the best catches around the country. The contest is for fish caught using a rod and reel only, but saltwater species can be taken from boat, jetski, kayak, or from the beach or rocks. For trout, fishing can also be from land or boat. Eligible species are detailed in the competition rules section here.

Bragging rights & Prizes

This competition is all about bragging rights but YES, there's $40,000 in prizes of Bradley Smokers and Shimano fishing tackle to be won as well. Most of the prizes are drawn so it's better to be lucky than good!

New Zealand wide

Anglers can fish anywhere, any time so long as the entries are in one of the categories we recognise. You can register and enter after you have caught a fish and we encourage people who are fishing on charters to enter as well. The annual Leaderboards will keep you up with the play and our permanent Hall of Fame will be an enduring record of those great trophy fish and the people who caught them!
