Hey guys, just brought a new rod, as im wanting to get into jigging, a JM powerspell popped up on Trademe for a good deal so decided to bid and ended up winning it.

Its a JM powerspell 50B 300g rod, hardly used and got it for a good price, ill predominately be using it for fishing in Wellington for jigging for the elusive greenbacks in Kapiti! and tuna in summer if it gets warm enough.

Im on abit of a budget being my first setup I dont want to go all out, budget around $3-400. Am going to buy Powerpro 40lb multi colored braid, done abit of research on reels that would suit, but others opinions would be good.

Shimano Trinidad 20 or Torium 16
Daiwa Saltist 40H
Also saw the Avet reels that are in the FS section at the moment also.

Any opinions and information would be appreaicted.

Go 50lb braid at minimum

Saltist BG35 now - + thumbs. No need to do drag upgrades on the new BG series now either. I've got a BG 40 for live~baiting and like it alot.

to be honest after reading the post in this topic you the one that sounds like c**k!! you not very help full at all and i think everyone would agree with me.. Clap

back to topic i think you should spend some time researching to see what suit your budget, perhaps Torium 16-20 decent price reels with enough grunt for beginners.
