Can't beat a single accurate shot either.

Surprised how many people recommend the 10/22 after reading through this thread I struggle to see why they are so popular and I have one LOL

Yip
I used to have a 25 round mag for mine but all you end up doing is chewing through the ammo and end up with a cut up thumb.
I think .17 is the way to go now.

I have had a Brno 2E over 25 years now. Very accurate and great looking.
Don't really like semis as its too easy to fire off heaps of rounds rather than pick your shots.
Whatever you get chuck on a silencer and run subbies through it.

As far as the best sporting .22 LR rifle, it would probably be any of the high end Anschutz models with the match 54 action. Big bucks as they start around $2,500. A Weihrauch .22 LR is probably the best high quality rimfire for the money.

Saw a nice weihrauch .22WMR go for 850 on trademe yesterday, was a nice looken rifle!! Mint condition no scope!!

Just picked up a Marlin 22WMR being threaded as I type Scott, now has an early good quality Tasco 3-9x40 on it and woodwork is awesome, can't wait to know some hares over, should get out and chase some mate...
70ml of 90deg C water pressurised through 13g of roasted finely ground tamped coffee for 25sec's to make a distinguishing sensory hit called a Double Shot

I think being able to shoot accurately is important - and a crisp, light trigger is critical to that.
I understand, that a semi-auto is not as accurate as a bolt action; due I believe to the trigger being heavier and longer action. I have tried a 10/22 semi-auto and thought it was difficult to shoot accurately.
I own a Anschutz .22 magnum bolt action. I think its a lovely rifle, with a very good trigger; that can be shot accurately.
To answer - Whats the best .22 rifle - an Anschutz
I agree, I have had my Anschutz 520 Semi Auto for 43 years, bought it second hand for $75.00, still the most accurate .22 that I own, and I have got several! You can pick them up on Trademe for between $300-$400 dollars, you wont regret buying one!!!Big smileBig smileBig smile
It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing, by people who can't fish.
