There were 19 fish on the list. We managed seven. DD shot all the best ones (as expected), but we both worked really hard at it. We just weren't really where the fish were. It was frustrating, but great fun and even better company. I did manage a 2.4kg ky though, but Jackson Sheilds shot a whopping 2.8kg ocean going one that got him a cash prize.

I need to get more trigger happy TBH. I messed up and didn't shoot two OK fish, and then I lost another one due to bad shot placement. I don't know where we finished in the points, but I suspect it was around about the middle. Next year....

Herby also won yet another fabulous ice box as a spot prize.

Fishing was hard - and not having dived for a month or so made it even harder! Some spots were quite fishy, but weededge fish were hard to come by. I regretted like UJ not pulling the trigger on a number of smaller porae, as we only got one! Lost a kingy as well, but to be honest, we were never going to be close to the top three spots. For a guy who never dives, UJ was awesome - 20m no problem.
Very well organised comp, thanks heaps Cam, Dan and co. As always the highlight was catching up with mates and talking lies over a few beers.
Three snapper over 10 kg weighed in - pretty impressive.
I had a great time! Will be back next year!

Brilliant comp. well run.

Vis was rubbish, but slowly we managed to accumulate a few fish.
Luck was waiting over ledge and a trev made it a free weekend.

Will be back next year.

3rd the fact that fish need to be gutted for weigh in. Trevs were almost had it, not as great eating as they can be if looked after properly.

Agree agree agree, I gutted all my butters coz knew we were never gonna win and I like eating butters, fish should be presented gutted and gilled for weigh in.

Great organisation and especially enjoyed the catchup with spearos (some I haven't seen in years - yes I'm talking about you sweetie [UJ])

Same. Gutted the fish that night, and the fish certainly wasn't in as good nick as you would expect

In the hours we spent in the water I only saw a single, solitary koheru... and it wouldn't have weighed.

It was great diving somewhere new. The Chickens is a neat group of islands. Maggot needs to visit there.

Has anyone got the final results or a link to them?

Any feedback on the competition would be great, as we want to make the competition as enjoyable as possible for all our entrants.

I wouldn't change a thing, except for the gut and gill option.

I acknowledge that it's a bit more work for the weighmaster to check each fish, but it seemed that there were enough other competitors watching each weigh in to make it unlikely that an un-gilled fish would slip through

Well that would make you stupid. It isn't worth shooting a fish over 8kg anyway, I would just let the big ones swim past.

Your logic is impeccable DD (with the minor exception of the $1,000 cash prize for the biggest snapper)

It's simple really... just shoot one that breaks Pat's record, gutted and gilled. You could then proceed to be awesome.
