The all new custom made 14' 3pce 8-15kg Low Rider OH surf rod.

These new Veritas custom made rods are for the OH surfcaster in mind, Built strong and with low rider guides this will get you further out there than most surfcast rods on the market.

Boasting the usual Veritas features but this also has the rubber shrink tube handle design which provides a secure grip whether the grip is wet or dry - you can't go past these if your an OH caster - (Comes in it's own breathable carry bag)

30 ton graphite construction with Nanotechnology for increased compression strength.
Lightweight screw down padded reel hood.
High density EVA grips for durability and comfort.
Exposure reel seat provides increased blank contact and sensitivity.
Fuji low rider guides create a lightweight and balanced blank design.

NANOTECHNOLOGY

Abu's new Nano tech manipulates graphite on an atomic level for improved compression strength without sacrificing action and performance.
Nano tech introduces Nano particles to the resin that binds graphite in fishing rods.
This Nano enhanced resin supports and bolsters graphite fibers by surrounding them with nano-spheres creating a stronger bond.

Veritas rods take advantage of this new technology to deliver an extremely lightweight and balanced rod design that delivers incredible strength and performance.

Seen both for sale today in H&F Kerikeri for around $250, also bought myself an Abu light spinning rod for micro jigs- on special at $149, on sale at $235 at Marine Deals......(Abu Garcia Veritas VRS 601LMSP PE 0.8-1.5)
Not wanting to start the online v's local shop debate, as I have bought online myself. However as a regular at H&F they give great customer service and discounts for us regulars.

Hi, be careful of the 10' low mount one as although it is reted for 10Kg line(3Kg line drag), the line cuts into the hand grip foam and rod blank at 1.5Kg drag so only 4Kg rod. Model number is VRS1012SCLMM 10'0". The problem is I think they were experimenting with product demand and used a normal reel seat rod and made it a low reel seat mount for overhead reels, but didnt work it out that the increased distance between the reel(Abu 7000) and first eye on the rod is now too far to follow the curve. Trademe retailer in christchurch and abu product manager not helpfull at all even though it is a warranty issue so dont count on the warranty promises either.

I thought this verita surf with low rider guide can be used both with spin and hover head reel. If I look at number of guide it has I think it can be used with o/h reel. I am thinking of getting one as well.

Hi Shin, just to be clear it is the one with the low position reel mount, about 10cm from the bottom of the rod, thy tried to copy the South African and long distance casting style where overhead reel is controlled with left hand, but just adapted a standard rod I think and did not think it through. The other models may be fine. Google the model number I posted, I think there is only one or 2 retailers selling them and only in NZ.

Hi Herman thank you for reply.

I think the verita model you mentioned I think is this one bellow?
http://www.marine-deals.co.nz/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/368x/20a47c594fd742a59f0b1ac9b87e1814/1/3/1378973.jpg

I believe the model fish whisperer has shown is o/h and spinning out fit comparable and what I am after verita LR 14.6 the sameone fish whisper has introduced.
P.M me if I got the wrong idea of the rod?

Hi, this is the one I am talking about http://www.completeangler.info/line/10800/bottom-mount-salmon-light-surf-abu-veritas-rod/
Yours also seem to have a long distance from reel to first eye so may also have problems with overhead reel, these rods are very "bendy" low down.

Best to buy from store so you can test it first at proper drag setting, risky online and agents don't seem to care either.

Lowrider guides their design, and their spacings were originally for fixed spool reels. Companies to push rod sales have promoted these rods with lowriders as suitable for free spools as well, just as the free spool rods are claimed to be ok for fixed spool reels either way its a compromise due to the guides, spacings and in some cases guide size.

Will depend on guide spacings and the curve of the rod, so the line does not touch the blank or go inside the curve when the blank is under load.
Low rider spacings were brought in first to improve fixed spool line flow.

Hi SHIN - Did you end up buying, sorry didn't come back to this post...Yes we now do a Low Rider 2.0 next generation, all our Veritas rods are moving into the new 2.0

The low rider is Spin or O/H and have had no problems with the line hitting the EVA grips.

Not sure if the new low mount 10ft salmon rod has been changed at all - never herd a problem about the line hitting the EVA on that rod but will check that next week...
