Hey all,

Just bought a couple of ocea stickies(180mm), overlooked the fact that they dont come rigged. Not a big problem as im not a great fan of treble hooks and thought its a good chance to give single assists a crack.

So.. what are some good single hooks that work nicely on stickbaits? (reasonably priced would be nice too)

I got some of Smelli on here, work pretty well on my lures and didnt cost me a small mortgage. Give him a PM and see if he can help.

Jigstar have some inline hooks that I have used that work well. Not expensive either.

when putting inline hooks on lures what is the best way to go about, is it hook size, or hook weight that is the most important consideration?
Have some VMC inline singles, 7/0, they look a little lite on it for 180 oceas, but over size on 140mm orca or yozuri stickbait.

You dont want to weigh the lure down and ruin its action.....Only sure way is to test them for yourself......I was told to use 3/0 owner trebles with shimano ocea stickbaits/starwalkers but it was only because i experimented with shogun inline 7/0 that i found they were better(IMHO)...bear in mind they go sub surface and these are not the sinking models i am talking about........found the 3/0 trebles weighed the lure down and i had to wait a long time for the lure to pop its head.......Dont know about how others faired but i just prefered 7/0 inlines on both of those and i aint going to change!
Sinking would be another story.......If they look out of proportion they probably are!........here is a starwalker with 8/0 inlines........i went back to 7/0 after this..............However i have heard of people using 8/0 on the sinking ones and they look huge on them......Hope this helps a bit......9 mm splits will do.....Im a big fan on Decoys over owner but owner are still good......You can of course always ask the person you have bought the lure off for their advise as well....If you can track down the shogun viper inline 7/0(they are actually classed as a jigging hook).....you can try out and then you have someone to blame if you are not happyLOL..........you will get enough hooks per pack too and reasonably priced.....seek and you shall find......Probably Decro or Decero (not sure how its splet)....sure they will have em.....torpedo 7 used to sell em too....you will get a really nice walk the dog action out of the lure you mentioned......just dont sweep too hard....wait for its nose to pop up and leave a small amount of slack in line before you begin your sweep and it will dart under and wiggle really nice.......have a pause before your next sweep and you will often get nailed at that time....while the lure is popping its head....Good luckWink
