Hi guys, so I'm in the market for a second game reel and I have about $550 to play with. At the moment I am tossing up between the TLD50ii w/ rod and the Tyrnos 30ii w/ rod. They are both in my price bracket, maybe the tld holds a bit more line but the Tyrnos is aluminium. We are fishing out of a 380 stabi and currently have 2x 50 wides spooled with 24kg, a fin nor Santiago and a Avet EX. We like to run 4 lures and at the moment the other two are tuna lures from either our jig reels or a little TLD20ii. So hence the upgrade. What options should I look at?
Thanks.

Cant go wrong with a tld50 mate, Graphite frame wont corrode, tried and proven reels, One piece frame = less to go wrong.
Heaps of drag and capacity. I use one.

Thinking of replacing it with a Talica 50 though - but they are alot more $$$$

Cheers Nomis. So I have been into the shop today and the bloke was a fan of the Penn Squall 50VSW, reckoned they go well, marketed them as a graphite international and new to the market so hasn't built a reputation yet. Another consideration I guess.

Give SwordfishSteve a call and see what he has in the line of second hand Penns and Shimanos. You'll hit your price point and you won't regret the quality. Don't cheap out, you'll have a good reel for a very long time.

Highly recomend these, been using them for a while, beat one to death on large kings and big bass at the 3 kings and it didn't miss a beat.trolled with 3 of them last season out of my small boat as well.
Got 700mtrs of thickish 24 kg on them with a wind on leader and a bit of freeboard
Rick pollock also has 2 as boat reels for customers to use and there still going strong after 2 seasons .

I was impressed with the sqall 50, I gave one a real bashing for a week on Wahu and it never missed a beat. It was loaded with 37kg braid with a mono top shot and set to just about drag a bloke over the transom at the strike, six fish in an hour and still smooth as, good value for money I say.

Hi Gungnir,

I have no experience with the other reels mentioned, but I have had lots of positive times with TLD50s. Good reels in my opinion.

Seen a few TLD 50's break off their reel seats in their early days. Still prefer full metal reels for heavy stuff.

Actually, if anyone has a TLD50 with a broken frame, I'll buy it - I need one for parts.
