Awesome, fantastic getting it solo.
Those that say it can't be done are being overtaken by those doing it.

Yeah Riv1 had one up in the gear but wasn't interested. Also saw another one while playing this one and had another one force a school of bait to the surface a few boat lengths off the stern while tryna drag this one onboard. Still heaps of life out there. If theres bait theres fish.

Saw there was a bit of warm water just north of Whangamumu so decided that was the go despite every man and his dog deciding to head south around the knights. Spent all day pulling plastic and looking for a bait. Got a lollipop skippy, rigged it up. Thaught if theres skippies there must be something else hanging round so deployed him asap. Not long after had a decent muzzie swingin off the end of my shimano

Ended up tipping the scales at 112.8kg. Pretty stoked really. Set a life goal of getting one over 100kg solo, so to have it happen on my first go solo and first season game fishing is pretty sweet. Oh this also my first ever marlin so yeah pretty happy.

Also cheers to Toots weigh station for the guest weigh and big ups to Kurt and the crew on Hookin Bull for helping me drag the muzzie onboard after the fight and for keeping an eye on me while I was hooked up.

Risers

what a blast, single handed, late in the season, Congates, nice fish as well.

Thanks for everything you did for us Eric. may you rest in peace, You were one of the real legends of NZ recreational fishing

Cheers guys. Water temp was well below 19° don't even recall seeing 18° at any time of the day. Pulled that one out of 17.4° I think it was. Still plenty of bait around though.

Rivone got that one next to us bang on 17° of water. Seems like there's still a lot of bait out there.
