If you are thinking of coming to Perth and you are a bad boy/Girl on the road.....It might not be the best place for you!
Here are some comparisons of just a few fines and how they differ from nz to Perth.
Nz points system = 100 and your out
Perth= 11 points and your out
                                                                                   Perth                                          NZ
Up to 9km over the speed limit but not exceeding that= 100 dollar fine (no points)           Dont know
over 9k but under 15                                                 = 150 plus 2 demerit points           Dont know
over 40 ks                                                                 = 1200 dollar fine..instant ban       Dont know

failing to wear a seat belt                                         =550 fine! plus 4 demerit points     100-150
failing to wear a helmet on M/C                                = 550 plus 4 demerit points                 0 !

Last i knew the cops in nz couldnt fine you for not wearing a helmet......not sure if its changed.....
If you get caught on school holidays its double the points.........they also dish out points for failing to give way........................People make more money here ....so they fine you more too.
If you dont pay your fine......they take your licence off you and you go to court.
There were more but these were just a few......there is no wof system at all........Its up to you to service your vehicle. ...........Doesnt seem to cause a problem.
I must find out what they fine you if you are not carrying your licence and if there are demerit points for that too.......If you do a runner from the cops you are in Deep ****!....They have a zero tolerance for that.
Once the idiots turn up..Im outta here...No time for Drama Queens.

This is why the road users over there are in a different league to the dickheads on the NZ roads.
What's the cheapest type of meat? Dear balls. They're under a buck.

Dont know about that one simon......they seem more useless to me but at least they dont speed as much and they rarely go on the horn too(i noticed that straight away when i came here).....I was an instructor for 17 years so i tend to notice these things.............You never hear of police assaults here either.......Would you assault a cop with a gun on their hip?..I feel sorry for NZ police in that area.
They often have a dynamic duo of cops riding around on push bikes with all their gear attached too..guns as well plus shorts and fancy cop shirt ..looks pretty hard caseLOL

Fair call, I was probably oblivious to most driving habits as I was drunk most the timeLOL. Mate's brother inlaw is a cop in Perth. We got to mess around with his Glock and baton. He wouldn't let us touch the taser for some strange reasonEvil Smile

My lippy bro inlaw thought he was pretty clever in front of his mates at Geelong a few years back over a traffic infringement, that was until he heard that ominous click in his earhole, been a good boy ever since.

Cheers

This'll answer your wonders about our fines and demerits,

and

I've got to see quite a few of these being handed out over the last few months, I'm one of these work site traffic people that invite the cops to come sit in or near my work site.
I've lost count of the amount of people that have gotten $400 fines for speeding through my 30km/h worksites, I've heard the cop ask people what the speed limit is and they all say 50! closely followed with that 30 temp is only a guide ain't it?
Also people on cell phones getting fines and people that don't stop for stop / goes are the worst!
And people wonder why cones fly across roads into windscreens!
Yes it was me, I screwed it up for everyone.
