Hi all-I'm just about to go through the exercise of working out the logistics of fitting an HT to my 5.5 Workmate. Has anyone done this? I guess through the Surtees factory would be the best bet. My mate had his 6.1 done at the Surtees factory for around $5.8k and that was with a cover fitted. Seemed a good deal to me. It would be a much more expensive exercise to sell mine and buy a standard HT. Cheers

Yes, Surtees does the 5.5 HT conversion. Best thing you could do would be to discuss it with them.

Hi Denny Boy - have just gone through this process and can't speak highly enough of the Surtees crew and the end result. Makes a huge difference to the boat - visibility increased about 10-fold, warmer and drier. No longer have to stand on tippy-toes or bend down to see properly. I took the opportunity while the boat was back at the factory to have trim-tabs fitted and some other bits and pieces. The Surtees team are fantastic to deal with too. Couple of pics of mine...

Has the hard top has changed the stability/feel of the boat noticeably?

Thinking about making a similar mod to my boat ...

Hey Mike - no haven't noticed any appreciable change to handling at all.  The trim tabs make a difference however, especially as I have livie tank on the helm side - really helps to straighten things up when required.

Thanks for the info guys.
Vegas-that looks awesome. Have you got a finished price for the job including the cover? I also think that the trim tabs would really be beneficial, in fact I think I'm going to put them on regardless even if I don't do the HT.

Hi. Didn't bother with cover. Had a few extras done... Hard top, extra rod holders on rocket launcher, alloy rod holder + extra 2 installed for game fishing, trim tabs, outriggers, dive bottle holders (figured might as well get it all done at once while at factory). Also some new clears (not in photos). Can't recall exact cost but was around 7k all up from memory. Well worth it- like a new boat

That is not too obtrusive.

I had visions of a much heavier hard top that would add too much weight upfront. There is not a huge amount of lift upfront to compensate for a lot of weight there.

The only other thing which has been installed is an anti-boating device (unintentionally). Every time I get anywhere near the thing it starts blowing 20kts. Avoid if possible
