Looking at a trip to cabo San Lucas for a bit of fishing. Any thoughts on type of targets to hunt. Besides blue water or Pelagics are there reef systems or other styles to look at.
Is there a season?
I'm sure I picked up somehere that Boulder has been in mexico and maybe Tony Orton.
Just cruising in my now sweetas pimped out Southern 755 HT0!

Hi Mattoo,

Feel free to ring me any time, I have spend a lot of time in Mexico and have a lot of contacts that i am more than happy to share with you.
I am also running a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in conjunction with NZ Fishing News in May 2015, its going to be a fun trip and very cost effective as charter costs will be split 4 ways. We are aiming to have 12 anglers go over!

Hey mate, one bit of advice....DO IT!!!!
I went to cabo in april.
I had planned to fish with Tony but didn't work out so he put me on to Mario from San Lucas yacht (have a look on FB) and I did 2 days on Go deep ($800 USD a day).
We got 5 stripies from 8 bites (40-80kg).
We would have seen 20 fish.
I highly recommend the boat/crew I went on. The second day we fished well past our fishing time just because there were tailing fish everywhere, the crew was as into it as I was.
I was only interested in catching marlin so that's what we targeted.
The style of fishing will blow you away, we hooked up on 1 fish on the rigger, while I was setting the gf up with that fish, the decky ran up the front and casted a bait to tailing fish, both were caught.

PM Tony (TOSF) hes a real good bugger and was extremely helpful with us going there.

Ill definetly be going back.

Plenty of inshore/bottom non trolling/gamefishing options, bottom fishing for grouper, snapper etc. they have kingis like we do and also big almco jacks. inshore casting for roosters, jacks etc.

Even bonefish up in the sea of cortez, La Paz flats

Giant snook in the marinas

The thing with Cabo is the bluewater/offshore environment collides with the inshore one. You will find Mahimahi in 6ft of water on the beach and marlin feeding in with schools of Jack crevalle behind the breakers so regardless you will never really escape the bluewater pelagics that much.

Everything those fullas said, but I'd go around to East cape(Bahia Des Palmas instead of Cabo, there are/were three resorts there with boats that pick you up from the beach each day. You don't have the crowds of Cabo to deal with which is the main attraction for me.

Failing that head down the pacific Coast to Mazatlan or Puerto Vallarta, I found the marinas there to be pretty helpful and better value than Cabo.
