Heres a starting point mate. The island, at the start on Spirits Bay. Good to access over low tide, good for snapper trevally and kingfish. You can get to rod holders ect at low tide walking the queens chain mate.

Taputaputa is another spot worth a look. Obviously these are average spots in the scheme of things, so I recommend you do some homework and put a few hours into maps ect....

If you have any particular questions on certain locations, fire away and ill help you out. Cheers.

You are a long from help up there so be very careful it pays to fish with a buddy don't think on your own is very smart to be fair

If you walk over the top watch out for slippery or loose rocks
Low tide is pretty easy
Take as much berley as you possibly can a bomb or two and use chunks of pilchards as well
Much easier to share the load with a mate
Wicked place to go first time enjoy it
Tapuotputa may be easier if on your own
Google earth is awesome to locates spots and finally if wether goes pear shaped try Paua wharf
Key needed for gate not sure where to go for this currently

the island is a good alround spot but persevarance here is the key, lots of sharks to to reef out the front there holds good snapa and huge kings from time to time well worth trying to get on but only in a small swell there are a lot of tope off the beach at night rod holders gets a hammering but if your prepared to walk up and over the hill I would there is some top fishing to be had been going there since I was a kid and now go up in the boat a ducky would be the go here it was for us as we ventured all over but there are better spots to be had via shanks pony

You don't need a key for Paua wharf
You can easily get to rod holder two hours either side of low tide.
