Hi All,

Looking to head out from Kawakawa bay tomorrow if not too windy.

Can anyone suggest good spots to try on outgoing tide? In A 3.2m inflatable so not too far out. .

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers
Nick.

Yep we are looking at a dawn launch.. head up waiheke channel and if just swell and the opposing tide dosent lift it to high,  out side the islands, maybe up around Hooks or Shag...
Maybe worth going that way if the swells coming into KK bay a bit more than expect.

Cheers for the tips guys. Got out about 9am to the shallows as advised above. Fist time i've stayed put in one spot in kawakawa which is nice. Pretty slow but very steady with a range of sizes in the 30's and 40's to get my limit. . not a single kahawai which was a change. Burley with squid baits did the trick. . a few good strikes on SP's but not enough patience to persist this time.

Pretty stoked that the weather turned out, apparently the road was closed the day before. .

Previous most successful spot in the bay has been north of the sandbar between the small island an Ponui. Now quite keen to find out how to target kingi's in the area. .

See the dude at the `Tackle Box` container type outlet that does bait and tackle.
Buy something from him and he will tell you where his regular customers have been doing well.
He is located just down from the KBBC ramp.
Can`t miss him.

Hi guys, thanks for previous replies.

Shallows as suggested have worked out well on a couple of occasions. Keen to get out sometime this weekend if weather is clear enough, but wondering if anyone can say whether Waiti bay would be sheltered enough in a westerly? Is it possible to launch there? Only got a the 5hp for the time being so can't go too far. I heard of mussel farms round there but not showing on google maps, is this right? Cheers, Nick.

yeah mate there is a mussel farm across the other side of the bay (Taniwhanau Point). Not sure about Waiti in a Westerly as the wind can sometime pump through the channel there
