Out for a few hours today. Water cold at 19.2 and after seeing a seal we commented that it wasn't a good sign as the water is cold enough for seals so probably not warm enough for marlin. Two minutes later a marlin on the lure. As I had tagged all of my marlin this season we decided to take this one for a feed. Caught in 170 off Knuckle on 'pink piece of ****' (according to Steve Angus). Another free jumper seen on the way back in putting on a really good show.

19.2 too cold??
Nah- my first marlin was caught at the Compass Rose about this time of year in 16.8C.
Don't know how cold it gets at the Kings but plenty caught in May.
edit - congratulations on your fish!Thumbs Up

We spent a few hours towing plastic between matai and Burgans in the 120-140 meter mark yesterday. Water was green as and no sign of life :-(
