Water temp wasn't working
Fished stright off the bay, went out to as deep as 1400m, green until about 600m, 750m onwards blue as blue almost perfect looking water.
Skippys and Albies all the way out.

Schools of skippys on surface and lovey marks on the sounder at 135 to 160 stright off the cape.

But the duel of the day was at 35 50'8. 174 36'.4
Big schools of skippys on surface, saries jumping out all over the show, and heaps of mutt ducks. Big splashes and no dolphins or sun fish in site. We saw a fish can't confirm if it was a billfish jump approx 500m in front of us several times in a line, we both thought it was a free jumper, very nice blue water.

Talked to someone on the radio while I was out there who was on the trenches they said they had 19.2 when we came back in over there it looked green and cold, so going off that I would say we had 20+ degree water
There is only one kind of day I like to go fishing on.........

........any day ending with a y

Hey guys, heading to the bay of islands for two week camping trip on Urapukapuka Island, did the same last year.
like always fishing somewhere new its hard to find a good spot, so fishing was not that productive as i thought the BOI's would be, not to say we did not eat seafood most days.
So may question is this, does any body have some GPS spots for Snapper and Kingfish.
Will be heading out to the hole in the rock to try some jigging for kingfish around bird rock, but thats all I've read in the magazines

Thanks very much

Bugger that's no good, who wants them....
70ml of 90deg C water pressurised through 13g of roasted finely ground tamped coffee for 25sec's to make a distinguishing sensory hit called a Double Shot

Cant be to far off. we went to the garden patch nearly a month ago with some quite nice blue water, come across some big schools of skippys. got a nice alby. water temp was 19.8 and that was a month ago. so im guessing about now things should really start to move up north with a couple of weeks of good weather ready to roll in. bring on the marlin!

Just talking to Geoff on Major Tom II. Out to the 700m mark today and dropped a shortbill spearfish. Water up to 21 degrees. Heaps of skippies about.

Wasn't that specific Alex but the general drift was that there were lots of them and I got the impression that they're quite prolific right out to that depth.

A bit of action out and about today. A Blue Marlin lost in 450 off The Brett/Mumu after an long battle which ended up with a dead marlin Vs a 50 W ! and feeding Stripies in the area as well . Weird water !   Seemed to be a good 20.3 -20.6 sth off Cape Brett where the blue was hooked and then it was dead until you went in closer towards 250m up to the Ninepin trench. More to come in my Blackbill report

Shakedown trip for the new boat setup & to blow a few cobwebs out yesterday. Out to 300'ish off the Cape/Whangamumu based on Kyle's near-miss a bit further out a few days ago. Water blue-ish if you squint a bit, and up to 21.3. Turned back early when I saw the thunderstorms moving in from the SW - didn't like the idea of being the only target on a flat ocean, especially with 14' lightning rods in the air.

Something big jumping at 260 was the only action, but had a couple of riggers go off from large skippies hitting the marlin lures that sure produced big shots of adrenalin.

Skippies were around all the way out - most prolific from 100m at the Bird Trench where I put the gear in out to about 160, though I see elsewhere on the site they are in as close as 60m. Great time to fill the bait freezer or keep the kids amused - can't be too long before the big boys turn up for the big boys.
