mashinator wrote: I go to fc in hamiltron a bit and have had a good look over the 500. I went f16 for cuddy, however I ran the tape over it and it is a big 5m boat. 5m from bow (no fair lead) to stern (no portifino), mid thigh support and a heap of fishing space in between. I haven't seen one ride in the water but I have seen a 430 tiller and I was very impressed with the dry, soft ride I saw. They were heading to gannet rock which is 30k from the boat ramp and 24k offshore from raglan. The hull looks very similar in design and concept to the everyman boats which get big raps on ride but are probably another level in build quality. In a post on the forum regarding 5m boats and mayor there have been varying opinions from too dangerous to no worries. One comment was choose your weather and you will only be limited by gas. With the number of fc boats around I would suspect they have been to mayor already. The reality is that one foot per knot of wind means you dont want to be out in much more than 15knots in the 5mboat. Structurally I would be suprised if you couldnt thrash it for 20 years plus. |

Good deals to be had at fc and frewza while there overheads are lower but that would change if they went bigger |

Mash I've ridden that FC430 (Flying Dutchman, owned by my mate Andy) several times to Gannet from Manu. In different (always safe) sea conditions. I'm always amazed at the ride in that boat, I'm a bit of a lump at 100kg and never seem to unsettle it when I move while boat is in motion. At rest she's a bit tippy - of course she's a small beamy craft. Amazing amount of fishing room. (I'm a Frewza owner myself, mainly because my boat is used for going out in gob****e weather after ducks and I prefer the stability of pontoon boat as a shooting platform). They've got a lot right with the FC430, including price, so I imagine the bigger brothers are more of the same. Rahui, time to start an Aqualine thread methinks. When your truck's working that is. |
rahui wrote: yeah kiwi/aqualine don't blow about there boats so much like others, I think it is because they don't have to. you don't see to many of these for re sale, I will post some piks as soon as I pic it up next week[fingers crossed]. friggen trucks been in the shop for 7 days. |
