Quick report for anyone looking to head out in the Hauraki over the weekend.

Couldn't pry the boat away from the service this time, but the forecast looked great and the opportunity to fish couldn't be passed up. Managed to get out on a mates boat with a few of the boy's from work.

Launched at Taka and first stop was same area as Monday. Picked up a couple of nice fish but not nearly as hot of a bite. Didn't muck around, setting a course for the 40-45 meter area slightly south of Oneroa and straight out. Big schools of Kahawai on the surface joined by terns and the sporadic gannet work up.

We set up for long drifts and got amongst some great schools of snapper. Often the softies were picked up on the drop making it important to stay in touch at all times. Other times it barely mattered what you did, the buggers would just jump on! Plenty of double and triple hook ups. Hard to beat when its right on your door step!

My rod holder nabs one while i snapped this shot of brad.

Fat pannies for the frying pan Big smile

Awesome fun on super light gear.

Water glassed over and we took it all in over a few beers and some good music.

Primo as day! Hope others manage to get out there and enjoy what is some exceptional fishing at the moment.

Yea mate turned in to a goody, funnily enough the fish were holding in exactly the same area you and Mckeown came and met us that day, this time last year.

Yeah, nice post NM, and I gave it the "Thanks" treatment.

There have been a lot of great posts recently, so I've been spraying around the thanks maybe 3 or 4 times a week.  Are there any rules?  Am I devaluing the currency by voting more than once a week?  Can I vote for my mate 50 times so he wins the $50? Can I vote for myself?LOL

It's possible that offering a weekly prize has caused a few more people to post, and the number of photos and length of stories seems to have increased.  If so it's a good thing, and who cares if it gets rorted.

Software is set up so that you can only thank a post once on your log-in and you can't thank yourself. Great to see everyone getting into it and DB are looking forward to sending out lots more $50 Liquorland vouchers and caps!

Clap Is is nearly the end of May, but you wouldn't know looking at those photos.
Fantastic conditions, fantastic fishing, fantastic smiles, what more could you want in life.
Remember it's not the number of breaths you take that is important in life, but rather the number of times that life takes your breath away.

Nice One,

I was watching the forecast and couldnt resist the day off as well so took a couple of my staff (Sparkies) out

I thought about heading deeper out that way and wish I did but didnt really know where to aim for, although we almost got our limit anyway, caught a few around the noises then most just off Billy Goat Point on the way back, It didnt feel like the end of May out there yesterday.
