I just wash them in fresh water and let them dry on a paper towel

Yeah I've come to that same conclusion FA, with most of my tackle. Rinse in fresh water and leave them to dry out until I need them again... I pretty much always have a selection of hooks and jig heads, lures etc spread out on my bench sitting on a towel... Pack them up before heading out.
Legasea Legend, the rest of you should be too, $10 a month.

Our "dirty" jigs go into a tupperware container that i take home and soak in hot soapy fresh water to rinse off the salt and get rid of any over applied secret sauce. Keeps em rust and smell free.

That's interesting  Kaveman,  the  lures are the jitterbug by ocean angler. Sounds like I need to buy some of your replacement skirts!!

From the can : " Inox mx3 will not harm metal points , surfaces,  PLASTICS, paints, enamels or finishes, fibreglass, formica or neoprene seals."  ........... yeah right !

These plastic skirts are so stiff and hard , I'm considering bottling some and selling it on Newstalk ZB with all the other snake oils as a Viagra substitute!
There are two types of people in the world: those that divide people into two types and those that don't.

Yea jitterbug skirts (plasticky) dont last as long as kaveman skirts (rubbery). My jitterbug skirts get stiff and manky after awhile even with care.

Very interesting, wash jigs as normal and get a can of CRC silicone spray 808, this revives all old marlin lure skirts that go a bit hard so worth a tryWink

Sorry, just noticed this question, Yes i think it can help most of the time, i use a UV torch to charge up my slow jigs or leave in the sun to naturally charge up. can make a big difference  imo

Excuse my ignorance but do you guys tend to move away from fishing with inchikus etc and use more "smelly bait" over the winter, due to snapper etc being less aggressive towards the artificials (or is that just a myth floating around in my head)?
cheers
Cliff

For me its lures all year round . Small softbaits slowly worked and slow jigs are perfect
The great thing about lures is that often a fish will attack the lure out of curiosity even if it isn't hungry

Just writing an article about that now Cliff M-F for NZ Bayfisher (I think it'll publish July). To me fishing is just about how and where you want to catch fish. In answer to your good question ...haven't used bait in 6 years, and now use inhchiku/jigs 80% of the time by choice, year round.
