What brand of resin did you bring in?

I've been using a brand called Solarez and I'm pretty happy with it but it's not particularly cheap. It's flexible but they do a hard one as well.

I've just ordered a 3 pack of Solarez, what UV torch are you using?

Tied up a few interceptors tonight for a big snapper session next weekend. They're tied on VMC walleye hooks. Seem pretty strong. They might not have great rust resistance, but time will tell.

A variety of weights for shallow/deep water.

I think they're 2/0 and 4/0, Brenton. A mate just gave me a couple of hands full. Feel strong as buggery.

Do you have issues with rust?

Yeah they will rust mate but they're nice and sharp act like a recurve. Unfortunately I only have them in 7/0 & 9/0 but did get some #2 SL12s yesterday, I have my eye on making a Lefty Kreh White & Red Hackle fly today I think...

Looks simple ay :) Pretty sure last time I just snipped two different feathers to thin/space them out, then hackled these forward with a dubbing loop of body material following behind them to help point all the feathers forward. I'll tie the next one that way and see how it goes, here's a pic of the first one I tied, pretty beat up by the Queenies and missing bits of feather but still fishable...

All this shrimp talk has made me hungry.

I stumbled upon a video that seems to be almost the pattern you were searching about:

Cheers Frank, it's a nice shrimp but still not quite the secret sauce of the one above, I've gone back to crab patterns now anyway :) Got a good box of Stainless Mustad's thanks to Jaapie, just need some time and mindset to tie some stuff for myself now.

BTW, shouldn't you be out chasing down a greenbacked hoodlum?

PS - my boat is now QLD registered and back in the water after 6 weeks sitting in the shed gathering gecko chit and sad looks from myself, so the next few weeks should see a furious amount of time spent on the water.

Had a go at the "Ravin' Craven" from FlyLife this eve. Pretty sure they'll catch. A bit ugly, though!

Gotta agree - nice tie mate.

Be inclined to tie a few with bead chain eyes as well to reduce weight especially for that tan one.

I know he's a fresh water guy but I thought I'd let you know that there's a
Fly Tying and Whisky Tasting session this Friday 5PM at the Whisky Shop in Elliot St, CBD Auckland with New Zealand legend of Fly Fishing Peter Carty. Might pick up some tips and get tipsy

"Peter will be in store demonstrating how to tie flies and offering free advice to the fishermen out there.
It's fascinating to watch, even if you're not a fisherman. Who knows - you might get hooked!
In his honour we {the Whisky Shop} will be offering samples of The Fat Trout and The Dalmore Spey whisky and we may have another bottle or two for you to sample.

No need to book just drop in."
