The Bluff on 90 mile has a camp ground. Gets you close to Scotts Point as well.
Spirits Bay has a campground too. Might even see you there.
Might not be what you're after but my favourite is paying $5 at the Te Kao store for a key to the land by the Paua wharf. No facilities so I only ever stay one night.
Stop at the Houhora wharf on your way up. They're catching Kingies at high tide.
Matai bay camp ground is a very good base for multiple spots
