Hey guys im a bit of a newbie fisherman and ive come down to       whangapoua for 5 days. I have a surf caster and a shimano baitrunner 8000d can anyone ssuggest rigs and bait to use off the rocks cheers

I've caught a few kahawai around by the harbour entrance off Opera point in the past... I tend to use a strayline/running sinker rig and whatever bait I can get my hands on...

I was there a few weeks ago and always had 30+ kingfish following my live bait but no matter what I tried it was always nill by mouth. But good place to fish for KY and John dory out the front I have taken two kingfish from behind the island and the point cliff tasting mentioned.
