I have been out that area recently with another forum member P.T and we use a float and carabiner system to lift the anchor.

That's a great system Jackel as long as there's plenty of room around, not usually a problem way out there!

It's not really an option to heave it up by hand at that depth, a capstan or winch is pretty good too.

Anchor on my boat is a horrible thing to haul in but at least the capstan makes it bearable

Or if you like, Skoti,I can give my tub a dunking and you can practice your skills hauling my anchor up.... The trailer winch is looking pretty attractive too...Tongue

Smudge - I went out to Little Huia this morning 11am - waves breaking on Puponga Point? Choppy at Jackies Peak off Little Huia Boat Ramp always a bad sign.
Going to look again once tide turns and comes in hoping to get out for a flick on Huia Bank in harbour later today or Sun morning. Cheers
Good fishing trip nothing breaks, great trip catch fish.

Thanks Mac, bar will be rubbish for tomorrow so we'll just stay in the harbour and try for some snapper in the Papakura Channel.

Had a look at Little Huia just now 1pm - harbour has settled nicely but still rough at harbour entrance and waves still breaking against Puponga Point - but Jackies Peak area looks a lot more settled as wind swings NorthWest and tide starts coming in now.
Good Luck tomorrow. Cheers
